The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) protects personal information of individuals via the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in Schedule 1 to the Privacy Act. The APPs set out standards, rights and obligations around the handling of personal information.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) manages privacy on behalf of Financial Adviser Standards. Details on the Treasury’s privacy policy which applies to the handling of personal information including for the purposes of administration can be found on the Privacy Policy page on the Treasury’s website.

Where personal information is collected through specific forms or online services, additional privacy notices or declarations may apply. These are provided at the point of collection and should be read in conjunction with this Privacy text.
