Am I eligible for an assessment?
Foreign qualifications must be equivalent to an Australian bachelor’s degree or higher.
You must include at least one eligible qualification with your application.
You do not need to apply for approval if you:
- have completed an approved qualification and meet all the conditions or
- are eligible to access the experienced provider pathway.
Before applying
Review Prior financial advice experience to determine whether you are an existing provider.
Review any documents which assess the level of your qualification. This may include assessments:
- for migration purposes
- by professional bodies
- by a state and territory based Overseas Qualification Unit
Review how to make a valid Statutory Declaration, in Australia or overseas.
Please include the supporting information with your application.
Please allow several weeks for Treasury to assess your application. Treasury may request further information during this process.
Application outcome
You will receive the outcome in a Certificate of Assessment from Treasury.
Approval of a foreign qualification may be subject to completion of more study. The Certificate of Assessment will outline any study you need to complete.
If you need to do more study, your approval takes effect once completed. The Certificate of Assessment is not re-issued.
To show that you have an approved foreign qualification, you must keep copies of both the:
- Certificate of Assessment, and
- Evidence you have completed the extra study.
Your Australian Financial Services (AFS) licensee may request this information.
